Food and Farming question from Liz Christian, smallholder

At the Future of Local Food and Farming debate that took place at Newent Community School on 3 April 2009, Liz Christian put the following question to the panel:

Why did Marketing Cooperatives and Marketing Boards disappear?  Do the Panel have any suggestions about who or what could take on their role in protecting producers from the power of the supermarkets?
