Food and Farming question from Lionel Carter, agriculturalist

At the Future of Local Food and Farming debate that took place at Newent Community School on 3 April 2009, Lionel Carter submitted the following question:

I was brought up to believe that technology would provide an answer.  Can the panel identify any particular technology that would provide the answer to our current problems of climate change and peak oil?
