At the Future of Local Food and Farming debate that took place at Newent Community School on 3 April 2009, Mike Tyers, who works with a company providing energy-efficient
equipment to agriculture, put the following question to the panel:

We know the technology is available to both save energy and to provide it by more sustainable means, but it's usually too expensive relative to fossil fuels to justify its implementation. Should or could the government support these technologies so that they start to stack up against the current trend?(We ran out of time before this question could be put to the panel.)
