Food and Farming question from Jenny Grassom, the Women's Institute

At the Future of Local Food and Farming debate that took place at Newent Community School on 3 April 2009, Jenny Grassom submitted the following question:

Quite a few fruit growers in this area have stopped production due to the low returns and importing of apples in particular from Europe.  What is being done to promote local apples in particular and helping existing growers to expand and find new outlets?
