Food and Farming question from Peter Moore, Newent Town Council

At the Future of Local Food and Farming debate that took place at Newent Community School on 3 April 2009, Peter Moore submitted the following question:

Much of the organic fruit and veg in our shops is imported.  Why do we mainly produce for the `cheap and cheerful' end of the market and ignore the more profitable `quality end'?
