Food and Farming question from Jacky Smith, garden share organiser

At the Future of Local Food and Farming debate that took place at Newent Community School on 3 April 2009, Jacky Smith submitted the following question:

Given that the increasing price of oil is going to make the big centralised packing stations increasingly uneconomic, can we look forward to the revival of local wholesale markets and the decline of the power of the supermarket chains?
