The future of local food and farming April 3 - ask a question

| | Comments (0)
This public panel discussion will be chaired by Mark Harper MP, with some excellent local panellists from the food and farming world, addressing questions on the effects of climate change and diminishing oil supplies on future food supplies.

Submit your question to the panel by email

Friday 3 April at 7.30pm at Newent Community School

The panellists are:

  • Julia Evans -  livestock farmer and former chair of Herefordshire National Farmers' Union branch
  • Charles Martell - Dymock farmer, cheese-maker and advocate of local food
  • Dr James Kirwan - food policy specialist at the University of Gloucestershire
  • Anthony Snell - fruit grower, chairman of NFU West Midlands Horticulture Board
Modern food systems are very heavily dependent on oil, both throughout the growing process and for transport, to move food around.  As the supply of oil gradually diminishes we will be compelled to do some major re-thinking of how we produce and distribute food.  Come and hear what others are thinking, make your contribution and be part of the solution!

For directions and a map see Newent Community School website.

Doors open at 7.00pm, admission is free but come early as space is limited.  Seats may be reserved by email
or phone: 01531 821931 but please, collect your tickets by 7.15pm as seats may need to be used if demand is high.
